The Black Church

When I think about the state of the Black church, it grieves me. Growing up in a Black church, I heard people say that the preacher wasn’t really preaching unless he was ‘hooping’. No one ever actually applauded the Word of God going forth. They applauded the antics of the pastor. The more he yelled and screamed and pranced about the stage, the more you saw the waving of hands, the yelling of “Amen, Pastor!” and the more ‘holy ghost dancing’. That was when I was in my pre-teens. Now, at 30, I can’t say much has changed; I can almost say that it’s gotten worse.

Now, not only does the above happen, but everyone is rebuking everything “in the name of Jesus”. Everything from issues with equipment, coughs, colds, check engine lights, bad drivers, and more is attributed to the devil. Sunday mornings have people running around the church like Flo-Jo, screaming, speaking in ‘tongues’, and greetings of ‘sister’ and ‘brother’ abound. But, let’s fast forward 1 or 2 days. These same people are at work with poor work ethics, involved in fornication, their mouths spew profanity like broken fire hydrants in the Summer time, and the only time you hear about Jesus is when they are upset about something. You know what adds to this? There’s no conviction of sin (1 John 3).

Why is this the common theme of the Black church? Christianese, yet no Christ? So many Blacks in the church think they are ‘in’ with God because they attend church and serve on the usher board. The Gospel is rarely preached, and when it is, Jesus’ death is shown to have been so that they can have riches, prosperity, and perfect health. We hear that ‘by His stripes, we are healed’ and we cling to it as a promise that Aunt Jackie won’t die of cancer and Paw-Paw won’t die of emphysema although now 89, he’s been smoking since he was 16. And when this promise doesn’t ‘work’, Jesus becomes an object of anger as if He let us down, though this is never what He promised in the first place.

When Truth is attempted to be shared, it’s ignored. You’re frowned upon. You’re accused of being a tool of the Enemy. You’re even told you’re ‘too serious’. But – isn’t Christ the One we are to be the most serious about? The Black church perishes in its ignorance, showing it to truly be bliss, and attendees don’t know Jesus and don’t really believe in the Gospel. Solely attending church never got anyone anywhere. It actually desensitizes us to our true need.

It’s a man centered theology. Well – it’s not even really theology because if God was truly the object of this study, lives would be changed. But they aren’t. And there’s no desire. It’s basically, “Let me get my Word”, “I hope they sing my song today!”, “I paid my tithes; I’m good”, yet Jesus isn’t grasped for. He isn’t reached for. He isn’t treasured. He isn’t loved.

This is why men like Creflo Dollar, TD Jakes, Eddie Long, and Rickie Rush thrive in the Black church. It’s everything people want to hear. It’s a feel good message, and motivational speaking at best. There is no talk of sin, wrath, holiness, judgment… The Gospel isn’t preached in its fullness. What is ‘preached’ is what makes people feel good. But, you will feel good and be on your merry way to Hell without truly knowing God, trusting in Jesus, and being forgiven of your sins, which you need to be. We all need to be.

The Gospel is not that Jesus died to make me rich and healthy. If that were true, I’d BE rich and I’d BE healthy. But this is the Gospel – Jesus came to save sinners. Who are these sinners? Every human being alive on this planet. Sin is breaking God’s law, and sinful is the state that we are born into. We are sinful. None is good, not one, and none of us on our own seek to know this Holy God who created us. Because of our sinful nature, we stand condemned before God. We need an ‘out’. We need a way to be set free from this sin. We need a way to be made right before God so that we no longer stand condemned, but forgiven and free. Enter Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect life – the life that we should live – yet died a gruesome death, absorbing the wrath of God. This is the death and the ending that we should all have. We should all incur God’s wrath and anger in its fullness. But Jesus was hung on a cross, and as He died on that cross, He, the perfect Son of God, absorbed the wrath of God so that for those who believe in Him by faith, there’d be no wrath left. This is good news! What is required of us? What we must do is repent of our sinfulness and wickedness and turn to Jesus. We must place all of our faith in Jesus Christ, and depend on Him for our forgiveness and our right standing before God. We cannot depend on participation in ministries, church attendance, or grandma’s faith. It’s you turning AWAY from your sin and turning TO Christ. And because Jesus lived the perfect life that we should have lived, when we place faith in Him, because He died our death, we receive His life. Isn’t that beautiful?

Satan is thriving in the Black church due to ignorance. Please trust in Jesus and be truly saved, lest you be like those in Matthew 7:

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

The Three

If there is no such thing as the Trinity, and if God really exists in different modes (not persons), how can one explain Matthew 3: 16-17?

And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:16-17 ESV

God has to be 3 persons; otherwise, the above would be illogical. To say that sometimes God is the Son, sometimes He is the Father, and sometimes He is the Holy Spirit does not only a great disservice to God, but it’s very irreverent as well as heretical, and shows that the one making that statement cannot really believe in the Bible as the Bible has MANY examples that show “God in 3 persons, Blessed Trinity”.

Just a thought as I read God’s Word. Praise Him for the grace to understand. He is so merciful.

Anathema!

From time to time, I visit A Little Leaven. I can’t visit all the time because the things they showcase make me so angry (righteous indignation) and sad… I know so many people who loyally follow the teachings of those such as Paula White, Kenneth Copeland, and Creflo Dollar. Even when shown videos of them being caught in their heretical teachings, they defend them, which results in their hearts being hardened to the pure Truth of the Word of God. We need no new revelations. As my pastor said a couple of Sundays ago – If it’s new, it ain’t true. There are no new revelations, no new teachings… If a ‘prophecy’ or teaching cannot be backed by the Word of God, it simply is not true. God didn’t give us His Word to support teachings, but ALL teachings that are done by those who profess Christ MUST. FALL. IN. LINE. WITH. HOLY. SCRIPTURE!!! If it doesn’t, it’s demonic! It’s false! When people were preaching another Gospel and Paul discussed this with the Galatians, he said of those people, “Anathema!” Let them be accursed! Eternally condemned! Woe to those who preach a Gospel of Jesus Christ that is NOT in the Scriptures! Woe to them who attempt to strip Christ of His deity!

How can you so comfortably and easily EISEGETE the crucifixion of my Lord ? How can you attach the put forth the contrived trash and place it upon the Lord Jesus Christ ?! Ahh, Lord I pray for those whose eyes have been blinded by these heretical teachings, these wolves in sheep clothing. I was once misled, but by Your grace, you rescued me. Please do the same for others who follow the teachings of these false prophets and teachers…

Charismatic Chaos

Before I headed out with a friend on Thursday afternoon, I was watching some show on television that had a segment on Bob Larson and his exorcisms. They further went to show how much money he made – tons of it. Then yesterday, I was looking at a site that discussed various false prophets, their twisting of Scripture, their fleecing, and their abuse of the people who follow them. It makes me so sad; it breaks my heart. There are people who will blindly follow men and defend them, but they won’t defend the Lord. I say this because – Many times when the failed ‘prophecies’, twisting of Scripture, greed driven lifestyles, and such are pointed out, people defend them. They protect them. And if you defend someone who is perverting the Word of God, then you don’t care about defending God.

I remember a time when I’d get up every morning to watch Creflo Dollar… even had one of his books. And then, I attended The Potters House every Wednesday evening and every Sunday morning, up at 7a. I was proud to say I went to that church, and it had nothing to do with Jesus. However, in all of those things, there was always something that kept me from getting too deep. I always had an odd feeling about those ‘ministries’, but I figured I was just having issues. That feeling never went away. And TBN ? I couldn’t stomach it for the most part. I remember, shortly before I became reformed, I was a poster child for TD Jakes and the Potters House. Although he never knew me, I was his advocate. I even defended his downright heretical view – modalism. Thankfully, by the grace of God, on a message board, a brother in Christ pointed out the errors of that line of thinking… and shortly afterward, I was in a Christian bookstore and picked up a book I’d strangely wanted for a while – Wayne Grudem’s ‘Systematic Theology’. I opened it up while in the bookstore, and what did I open it to ? The chapter on the Trinity. Talk about divine appointment. I sat down in the bookstore and read some of the paragraphs and it’s like a light went off in my head. Man, talk about His grace! I finally got it, and understood, and eventually I left that church, searched for a new one… ended up reformed (who knew?) and attending a Presbyterian (PCA) church. I get so saddened when I try to share the real Truths of God with someone who’s following Kenneth Copeland, TD Jakes, Eddie Long, Fred Price, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn, Paula White, or any of these others who fleece flocks and abuse / use Scripture for profit. The pure Truth of God and His Holy Word are much more valuable than what they have to offer. I am afraid that some may have hardened their hearts to the Holy Spirit. He’s our built in lie detector and when He lets us know something is up, we must yield and not ignore Him. Oh, if we harden our hearts, we harden our hearts to God, and we don’t want to do that.

Apostates and false prophets are all in and through the Church… and not just in the Western Church, but everywhere. It’s a sad thing, and it’s unfortunately misleading many people. And many people are also going to hell. Hearing a false gospel leads to false converts which means they don’t truly have Christ and they are not saved. They don’t have a pardon. This is partially why there are so many in these megachurches shouting and cutting a rug on Sunday, but when they leave, they’re cursing out the person in front of them for prematurely slamming on their brakes. Their lips say they love Jesus, but their lives say they hate Him. There’s no difference between the ‘believer’ and the world. The only time a Bible is cracked is on Sunday morning when the preacher instructs them to open it… and they scramble looking for easily located books such as the gospel of Matthew. Then the preacher spends the entire service on some self help, psycho-babble tip which has people shouting Hallelujah and Amen… for nothing. There’s no conviction, no solid Word, no need for a life change… It breaks my heart.

While reading the information on that site, I saw this quote:
I’m going to to tell you what blasphemy is! When God says you are the righteousness of God and you go around talking about, ‘I’m unworthy.’ That’s blasphemy!…Blasphemy is when you go against what God has said about your true self! OOOOh! We are so unworthy! Shut up with that blasphemy!….You are not a sinner saved by grace. You are sons and daughters of the Most High God! You are gods! You are God’s reflection on this planet. For you to say that thing is for you to count the blood of Jesus worthless. His blood was sent to cleanse you of your sin and you going around saying that you are still a sinner! What’s the matter with you?

And it slayed me… because I am sure that there were MANY in that congregation shouting Amen at that, not even seeking the Bible on that horrendous speech…

For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
Psalms 51:16-17 ESV

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:8-10 ESV

The state of what is seen as the church is so heartbreaking to me. I just pray that God would save inspite of the wicked schemes and plots… that He’d be merciful yet again to us… I long for Him to return, but I pray for more time for these people to get it right and realize the perversion of God’s character and Holy Word that is taking place on such a large scale currently… I know that if it depresses me, it most definitely grieves my Father to the fullest.

The Gospel is being pimped and exploited. It’s used as a tool in order to mislead / misguide people, deceive people, and get money. It’s being twisted, misused, and ripped apart. Oh God, You gave us Your Word not so people could treat it like this! God’s Holy Word is used to make money off of people who really don’t have it.. 😦

Whenever you find a minister who is rich, watch out. Folk are not supposed to get rich in the ministry.
J Vernon McGee

My thoughts are all over the place it feels… but I’m so heartbroken and I’m so grieved right now… I wish it wasn’t so, but it’s been going on since Paul’s day… I pray more eyes are opened… There are probably those who will read this and roll their eyes and continue to follow false prophets, but I pray not so. If so many people are saying the same thing, don’t you think you need to truly consider that there may be something wrong ? There may be something to what is being said. Please, please don’t turn a blind eye. Seek the Scriptures in their purity and pray that the Holy Spirit guides you into true understanding…

Grace and peace. May God and God alone get all glory and honor.

If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:3-12 ESV

Soli Deo Gloria – Glory to God Alone

I was reading an article on the missing girl, Madeleine McCann, yesterday and something I saw disturbed me. Apparently a meeting has been arranged between the parents and the pope. Later in the article, the pope was referred to as ‘His Holiness’. Come again ? That really burned me because the only One who should be referred to as such a thing is God Himself, not some mere man who lives, breathes, and will die like the rest of us. Referring to him as ‘Holy Father’ and ‘His Holiness’… why ? Is it not realized that he’s a sinner as all men are ? He was born in iniquity and without Christ as his Lord and Savior, he’s hellbound too. Traditions of men get you nowhere. We have to get back to the Bible, those of us who claim to be children of God. Sola Scriptura = Scripture ALONE. We don’t need anything else. We don’t need outside sources. We don’t need another book. The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience… (1689 LBC). Nothing’s changed and there is no new revelation. The only Holy One is God – Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit. Anything or anyone outside of Him is a mere breath.

Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Psalms 144:4 ESV

… What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
James 4:14 ESV

Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?
Isaiah 2:22 ESV

Soli Deo Gloria. May God and God alone receive all the glory, not some mere man whose life is not controlled of his own volition.

Benny and Beyond

The complete audio is about 2 hours and 40 minutes long (159 minutes), but it’s well worth listening to, especially for ‘fans’ of Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Creflo Dollar, Paul Crouch, TBN, etc.:

Benny Hinn and Beyond

Please listen with an open heart and with prayer. May the Lord use it mightily to release the scales from eyes. My agenda is not one of wanting to be right or wanting to have ‘something’ over someone. I truly am hurting because of Christians following these men blindly and being deceived. Please let Scripture Alone be your final authority and guide. What God intended to be known is in the Bible. No new revelation is needed and anything that contradicts the Word of God is NOT a new revelation, it is heretical. Some of it is downright demonic. Please don’t follow another gospel. Follow the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and that alone.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV

Please don’t allow yourself to become one of those people this Scripture speaks of.

—————————

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones, whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the Lord. But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction, suffering wrong as the wage for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, while they feast with you. They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness. These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”
2 Peter 2:1-22 ESV

Prosperity Preaching: Deceitful and Deadly

Luring people to Christ to get rich is both deceitful and deadly. It’s deceitful because when Jesus himself called us, he said things like: “Any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33). And it’s deadly because the desire to be rich plunges “people into ruin and destruction” (1 Timothy 6:9). So here is my plea to preachers of the gospel.

Source:
Prosperity Preaching: Deceitful and Deadly by John Piper

1. Don’t develop a philosophy of ministry that makes it harder for people to get into heaven.
Jesus said, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” His disciples were astonished, as many in the “prosperity” movement should be. So Jesus went on to raise their astonishment even higher by saying, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” They respond in disbelief: “Then who can be saved?” Jesus says, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God” (Mark 10:23-27).

My question for prosperity preachers is: Why would you want to develop a ministry focus that makes it harder for people to enter heaven?

5. Don’t develop a philosophy of ministry that promotes less faith in the promises of God to be for us what money can’t be.
The reason the writer to the Hebrews tells us to be content with what we have is that the opposite implies less faith in the promises of God. He says, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

If the Bible tells us that being content with what we have honors the promise of God never to forsake us, why would we want to teach people to want to be rich?

That’s GAY!

There was a time, back in the day, when I used to use the phrase “That’s gay” to describe something stupid, wack, crazy, etc. But after something I saw this morning, I think I shall equate that phrase with the term ‘confusing’. So, from now on, if I were to EVER say, “Hey, that’s gay”, I’d mean that something is confusing me. Let me explain.

I was late to work this morning (not God glorifying at ALL, I know ). I got to work an hour later than I normally do. As I was getting off of the train, I saw 2 young, Black homosexual males, one with a weave that incorporated a shocking pink color along with a blonde color (if I remember correctly). As I got off the train, he, in stereotypical-homosexual-male-diva style, looked at me with a look of mock disdain as he boarded the train. I ignored it, and walked to the stoplight, with a look of utter confusion on my face. I was disgusted, saddened, grieved, and felt pity for them. As I stood at the light, waiting for it to turn green so that I could cross, I saw another young Black male with a sleeveless white shirt and low slung blue jeans walking with a hip twist much fiercer than I, a woman, have ever walked with. He was twisting so hard, I thought he’d throw his hips out of socket.

So, I am confused. Well, as most know (or should know… but it is surprising how many ‘Christians’ DEFEND homosexuality thinking that God is pleased with this abomination… like the Lord is pleased with sin… Um, have you read the Old Testament lately?), homosexuality is not of God. If the Lord meant for men to be with men, and women to be with women, I am sure he would have given us all a ‘random sprinkling’ of reproductive / sexual organs. What bewilders me (well one of the things anyway) is when a gay man seeks a gay men who is effeminate. I thought if you were a gay male, you liked MEN. I’m heterosexual (thank You, LORD, for men… indeed a GOOD thing) and I like my men to be well, manly. Not that I have MEN or desire to have many. I’m not a female Solomon, you know. However, I digress… and back to my point. If you become a gay male (yes, BECOME, because trust — no one is BORN that way… that’s a damning lie), shouldn’t you like MANLY men ? I mean, that confuses me… and then some WOMEN like manly women (oxymoronic)… This I don’t get. And then it’s so unnatural. One of the designs of sex is to produce. This is why the Lord designed us how He did with our reproductive organs as the way they are. Women have eggs inside; men have spermatozoa. When they come together, they create life – a beautiful design of God. However, man has perverted this design in SO many ways (abortion, homosexuality, etc.) A man and a man can not have children and neither can a woman and a woman. Also, a man and woman fit together like a lock and key. I will not get anymore explicit than that, but I KNOW you get my point.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Leviticus 20:13 ESV

Anytime you have to do something (or add something) to yourself, that happens naturally, in order for sexual relations to take place, there’s a problem. Now, I’m not talking about those that have disabilities and dysfunctions. God laid down the groundwork for life in the beginning. From rest to dominion to the natural design of life, He set the groundwork. It was laid. The Lord created a man and said it was not good for Him to be alone, so what did He create ? A WOMAN from his rib, a woman to be man’s helpmeet… not… a… man.

… But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Genesis 2:20-24 ESV

Now there are some who say many things. They say they’re born this way, and of course, the cliche – God loves homosexuals. Hmm, that’s a doozy. There are those that say God is okay with it… Eh, no. Like any other sin, He HATES it. The Lord HATES sin. He hated it so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for it. But, as with any sin, people are so stuck on self, so stuck on self glory (or satanic glory, because if you are not glorifying God, you are glorifying self or satan). Homosexuality is selfish. How dare you throw God’s design in His face and tell Him, “Well, God, I don’t like how You designed us, soooo… I’m going to do it my way”.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,
1 Corinthians 6:9 ESV

Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
1 Timothy 1:8-11 ESV

Wow, look at what that says in 1 Timothy — Homosexuality… and whatever ELSE is contrary to sound doctrine. And what does Paul say about those teaching another gospel ?

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:8 ESV

And since the ENTIRE Bible is theopneustic (God breathed), we can believe that this shall be.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Romans 1:21-28 ESV

So many people, even Christians in word only (who don’t reverence the Word of God as true and inerrant, who don’t fear and reverence Him… well… which really aren’t Christians at all; call me harsh if you’d like), say that the Bible is not ‘clear’ on homosexuality, that the Lord is forgiving, blah blah blah. Woe unto those who think those things because you really don’t know God or His Word at ALL! And to those who say, “Well I don’t believe in the Bible or Jesus Christ anyway”, well to this I say — I can believe 18 wheelers don’t exist, but you better believe that if I run into the middle of Interstate 20 and stand there, one will hit me and kill me. I can not believe in gasoline, but my car won’t run without it. Whether you believe or not, truth is, one day, all knees shall bow and every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord. Do it willingly now or be forced to later.

To go against the Lord’s natural design for life is refusing to acknowledge Him as who He is and well, as you see at the end of the Romans passage…

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Romans 1:28 ESV

Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
Romans 1:32 ESV

Now, let me say this — Homosexuality is a sin like any other, but some sins are ‘for the moment’ if I can use that. When you choose to lie at this very moment, it’s a sin that you commit right now (but still an abomination nevertheless). If you continue a lifestyle of that sin, it’s habitual and premeditated. Homosexuality is not something that you decide to do for a minute. You decide to make that a lifestyle that goes against the very essence and nature of what the Lord designed and declared good. It’s just as bad as a continual heterosexual fornicatory relationship.

I suppose it comes down to one very simple question:

Whom do you serve ?

I pray this gives those, saved and not saved, something to think on and I pray that the outcome glorifies the Lord Jesus CHRIST.

Ah, Lord… Help

While sitting at my desk, chatting with my friends, I started flipping around between channels on my television. I landed on a station where an unfortunately popular Black preacher was preaching on the presence and purpose of angels in our lives. When I’d landed on that particular station, he was speaking about Psalm 125:

A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
Psalms 125:1 ESV

He went on to use a tree as a comparison. He stated that we are to be like that tree – committed. According to him, the tree is unmovable because it is committed to the ground. Well, maybe I am not a hardcore studier of trees, but um… The tree does not make a daily choice to stay in that spot. Trees do not think. They do not have brains. They do not have wills.

I continued to watch, hoping it wasn’t as bad as it seemed.

He then said that he was so unmovable that he wouldn’t stop believing in God’s ability to heal because someone else couldn’t figure out how to get delivered. Wow, what a blow to someone’s faith. What about God’s Will and His Provision and Sovereignty ? It seems like, according to what he said, if someone didn’t get delivered from something, it was their fault and not due to the Will of God.

More points from this sermon:

  • If God would open our spiritual eyes, we’d see all the angels around.
  • God uses angels to minister to us (What about the Holy Spirit ? And I know what Hebrews 1:14 says, but this is not what he seemed to imply…)
  • Trusting in God allows the angels to be released on our behalf.
  • When we meet trouble, say “I trust God”, and He will release the angels.
  • When we believe God, we commit Him and when He is committed, angels do what they do for Him. (We force God’s hand ? Wow…)
  • If we want to see angels, we just have to say, “I believe God”.
  • Angels are our security guards. (Um.. How about God’s Sovereignty ?)
  • We must speak God’s Word to get angels to work on our behalf. (What ?)
  • We need to assign our angels. (Again… what ?)

As I watched this mess, I was getting mad… righteous indignation. While I was watching, I saw the advertisement for the associated CD:

Do angels really exist? The truth is that angels are assigned to every Believer; it is the Believer’s responsibility to put them to work. In the series, The Unseen Guardians: Recognizing Your Angelic Provision, the minister uses biblical illustrations to uncover the mystery of their purpose and how they can prepare the path to your future. Discover the power you have at your disposal! Order now to find out more!

I was so mad, so sad, because so many people BELIEVE THIS MESS! So many people are duped daily! How can he live with himself knowing so many are being Pied Pipered all the way to hell ? God is NOT our puppet nor our genie! It is not about how to get angels to work for us (the name of the sermon). It is about pleasing and following CHRIST!

When will people study the Word and find out how false these so called preachers are ? It SCARES me how many Christians defend and support these heretics and wolves. Please please, people, be like the Bereans…

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Acts 17:11 ESV

Lord, please help. Have mercy on us.

Why are people so oblivious to the focus shift ? Think about everything BUT Jesus. Follow everything BUT HIM, yet we have people saying AMEN to all of this mess, rocking back and forth, believing the ‘preacher’! Angels are not for us to worship! JESUS IS LORD. Not an angel! This sermon is about how to get angels to work for you… Not about how to glorify our King, how to serve Him, inclining our hearts towards Him… but about how to get angels to work for you… Lord… help. I am so grieved and angry right now. So many people take this word as bond… without searching the Scriptures for themselves… and sadly, many of these people are on their way through the wide gate because of that very thing. Self damnation because of ignorance and believing in this ‘other gospel’…

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel– not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:6-9 ESV

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Revelation 22:20-21 ESV

I am off to pray imprecatories now. Kidding… or am I ?

THE Gospel

I heard an amazing testimony today. It was by Charo Washer, the wife of missionary and evangelist Paul Washer of Heart Cry. She spoke of, how at age 32, she became saved after going through the motions for years. She’d been a missionary, sharing the Word of God with many, and had an impressive ‘Christian resume’ but she was never a true Christian. I don’t want to give too much away so please read her testimony here or listen here. I will say this — It caused me to search my heart and go before the Lord desiring confirmation. In no way was I crucifying my Lord all over again, but just desiring assurance. I was speaking with a friend last week about a few things I have been dealing with and we both discussed how, in the past, this passage of Scripture has had us both nervous:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Matthew 7:21-23 ESV

Who wants to be that person who THINKS they are saved but find out when it’s entirely too late ? So many ‘Christians’ are going to hell because of blindness and a deceitful heart… especially many of those sucked into the health / wealth / prosperity gospel that many wolves are teaching these days. So many have turned Christ into a magic genie, a blessing vending machine… and it’s sad and so very evil.

A few months ago, I watched this clip on a news site and found myself getting EXTREMELY angry. And what gets me is this — the # of people who are ready to defend this heretical gospel. In the clip, the ‘pastor’ tells of how his congregation gave him a jet and a vehicle. WHAT!? He needs a jet because the airlines don’t fly his schedule!? Man… What about all of these other pastors (and even music artists) who use good ol’ airlines to fly to TONS of places, to participate in various engagements? It makes me SO MAD. There’s even a woman on the clip who says the Kingdom of Heaven SHOULD be rich. Where is this in the Holy Bible ? Sometimes I wonder why the Lord hasn’t offed these people yet. I will be honest and say that. I know it’s not the most LOVING thought, but it kills me inside to know that so many people are being coaxed into hell through these various prosperity ministries. The ‘pastor’ in the clip ends the interview by saying, “As long as we can see lives change and hope restored, it’s worth it all”. Even worth going to hell and being responsible for helping others there !? A muslim can have a changed life and restored hope, but does that mean they have Christ ? No, and that is the most important factor in it all — Christ the King. Not money, not cars, not houses, not a ‘changed life and restored hope’, but JESUS. Where is the Gospel these days ? The TRUE Gospel ?

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel– not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
