When reading the below, I thought about the times when we as believers fail to give the Gospel or rep the King Jesus as strongly as we should for fear of being mocked, laughed at, etc. There is a desire to have clout with them or not be seen a particular way amongst your peers. In essence, receiving glory from them becomes more important than God’s glory. Of course, we’d never SAY that, but our actions betray us.
Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
John 12:42-43 ESV
