I believe the holier a man becomes, the more he mourns over the unholiness which remains in him.
That’s some good Spurgeon and it reinforces how Paul’s self-assessment could go from the “least of the Apostles” (1 Cor 15) to the least of all God’s people (Eph 3:8) to “Chief of Sinners” (1 Tim 1:15).
It’s not that we regress, so much as we see just how far we’ve yet to go as we grow unto holiness.
That is so true.
I love that statment that was made by Spurgeon.
That is the most succinct description of a sanctified life I have ever seen! It is definitely a quote I will commit to memory.
