Ah, Lord… Help

While sitting at my desk, chatting with my friends, I started flipping around between channels on my television. I landed on a station where an unfortunately popular Black preacher was preaching on the presence and purpose of angels in our lives. When I’d landed on that particular station, he was speaking about Psalm 125:

A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
Psalms 125:1 ESV

He went on to use a tree as a comparison. He stated that we are to be like that tree – committed. According to him, the tree is unmovable because it is committed to the ground. Well, maybe I am not a hardcore studier of trees, but um… The tree does not make a daily choice to stay in that spot. Trees do not think. They do not have brains. They do not have wills.

I continued to watch, hoping it wasn’t as bad as it seemed.

He then said that he was so unmovable that he wouldn’t stop believing in God’s ability to heal because someone else couldn’t figure out how to get delivered. Wow, what a blow to someone’s faith. What about God’s Will and His Provision and Sovereignty ? It seems like, according to what he said, if someone didn’t get delivered from something, it was their fault and not due to the Will of God.

More points from this sermon:

  • If God would open our spiritual eyes, we’d see all the angels around.
  • God uses angels to minister to us (What about the Holy Spirit ? And I know what Hebrews 1:14 says, but this is not what he seemed to imply…)
  • Trusting in God allows the angels to be released on our behalf.
  • When we meet trouble, say “I trust God”, and He will release the angels.
  • When we believe God, we commit Him and when He is committed, angels do what they do for Him. (We force God’s hand ? Wow…)
  • If we want to see angels, we just have to say, “I believe God”.
  • Angels are our security guards. (Um.. How about God’s Sovereignty ?)
  • We must speak God’s Word to get angels to work on our behalf. (What ?)
  • We need to assign our angels. (Again… what ?)

As I watched this mess, I was getting mad… righteous indignation. While I was watching, I saw the advertisement for the associated CD:

Do angels really exist? The truth is that angels are assigned to every Believer; it is the Believer’s responsibility to put them to work. In the series, The Unseen Guardians: Recognizing Your Angelic Provision, the minister uses biblical illustrations to uncover the mystery of their purpose and how they can prepare the path to your future. Discover the power you have at your disposal! Order now to find out more!

I was so mad, so sad, because so many people BELIEVE THIS MESS! So many people are duped daily! How can he live with himself knowing so many are being Pied Pipered all the way to hell ? God is NOT our puppet nor our genie! It is not about how to get angels to work for us (the name of the sermon). It is about pleasing and following CHRIST!

When will people study the Word and find out how false these so called preachers are ? It SCARES me how many Christians defend and support these heretics and wolves. Please please, people, be like the Bereans…

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Acts 17:11 ESV

Lord, please help. Have mercy on us.

Why are people so oblivious to the focus shift ? Think about everything BUT Jesus. Follow everything BUT HIM, yet we have people saying AMEN to all of this mess, rocking back and forth, believing the ‘preacher’! Angels are not for us to worship! JESUS IS LORD. Not an angel! This sermon is about how to get angels to work for you… Not about how to glorify our King, how to serve Him, inclining our hearts towards Him… but about how to get angels to work for you… Lord… help. I am so grieved and angry right now. So many people take this word as bond… without searching the Scriptures for themselves… and sadly, many of these people are on their way through the wide gate because of that very thing. Self damnation because of ignorance and believing in this ‘other gospel’…

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel– not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:6-9 ESV

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Revelation 22:20-21 ESV

I am off to pray imprecatories now. Kidding… or am I ?

That is so sad. There are people at home listening to that who don’t know any better and who trust these men. We can only pray that their eyes would be opened and that they will come to recognise the truth of the Bible.
