The Journey to Biblical Womanhood

2 Comments

A couple of weeks ago, I received a wonderful care package from a really good friend and sister in the Lord, Misha. The package contained Craisins, a quesadilla maker, a cookie sheet, a mixing bowl, measuring cups, lentil beans (with recipe!), towels, white chocolate truffles, a spatula, a pizza cutter, dried refried beans, and a book – Disciplines of a Godly Woman by Barbara Hughes. What a way to inspire me to strive toward being a Godly woman and wife and mother to be! Ever since I received the package, I’ve been making quesadillas (lol) and I even purchased a food processor from Target, which excited me to no end. I was on the phone with one of my big brothers in the Lord when I was purchasing it, and he laughed at me. I am so looking forward to this journey.

So what does the journey include ? Cooking, baking, cleaning (and keeping things clean!), reading Scripture (this one will be for the rest of my life), reading books on Biblical womanhood, doing projects, purchasing baking and cooking supplies… Just basically trying to learn and absorb all I can in my single years. I don’t have the responsibility that a wife and mother has so I need to maximize my singleness. I am definitely excited about all of the things I am learning and taking in, observing, and APPLYING during this time.

Anathema!

6 Comments

From time to time, I visit A Little Leaven. I can’t visit all the time because the things they showcase make me so angry (righteous indignation) and sad… I know so many people who loyally follow the teachings of those such as Paula White, Kenneth Copeland, and Creflo Dollar. Even when shown videos of them being caught in their heretical teachings, they defend them, which results in their hearts being hardened to the pure Truth of the Word of God. We need no new revelations. As my pastor said a couple of Sundays ago – If it’s new, it ain’t true. There are no new revelations, no new teachings… If a ‘prophecy’ or teaching cannot be backed by the Word of God, it simply is not true. God didn’t give us His Word to support teachings, but ALL teachings that are done by those who profess Christ MUST. FALL. IN. LINE. WITH. HOLY. SCRIPTURE!!! If it doesn’t, it’s demonic! It’s false! When people were preaching another Gospel and Paul discussed this with the Galatians, he said of those people, “Anathema!” Let them be accursed! Eternally condemned! Woe to those who preach a Gospel of Jesus Christ that is NOT in the Scriptures! Woe to them who attempt to strip Christ of His deity!

How can you so comfortably and easily EISEGETE the crucifixion of my Lord ? How can you attach the put forth the contrived trash and place it upon the Lord Jesus Christ ?! Ahh, Lord I pray for those whose eyes have been blinded by these heretical teachings, these wolves in sheep clothing. I was once misled, but by Your grace, you rescued me. Please do the same for others who follow the teachings of these false prophets and teachers…

This is one of the first hymns Cowper wrote after his first attack of temporary madness. Cowper had been promised a post as Clerk of the Journal to the House of Lords, but was dismayed upon learning he would have to undergo a public examination in the House before beginning his duties. The following article from the North American Review, January, 1834, describes his dilemma, and how God prevented him from destroying himself:

As the time drew nigh, his agony became more and more intense; he hoped and believed that madness would come to relieve him; he attempted also to make up his mind to commit suicide, though his conscience bore stern testimony against it; he could not by any argument persuade himself that it was right, but this desperation prevailed, and he procured from an apothecary the means of self-destruction. On the day before his public appearance was to be made, he happened to notice a letter in the newspaper, which to his disordered mind seemed like a malignant libel on himself. He immediately threw down the paper and rushed into the fields, determined to die in a ditch, but the thought struck him that he might escape from the country. With the same violence he proceeded to make hasty preparations for his flight; but while he was engaged in packing his portmanteau his mind changed, and he threw himself into a coach, ordering the man to drive to the Tower wharf, intending to throw himself into the river, and not reflecting that it would be impossible to accomplish his purpose in that public spot. On approaching the water, he found a porter seated upon some goods: he then returned to the coach and was conveyed to his lodgings at the Temple. On the way he attempted to drink the laudanum, but as often as he raised it, a convulsive agitation of his frame prevented it from reaching his lips; and thus, regretting the loss of the opportunity, but unable to avail himself of it, he arrived, half dead with anguish, at his apartment. He then shut the doors and threw himself upon the bed with the laudanum near him, trying to lash himself up to the deed; but a voice within seemed constantly to forbid it, and as often as he extended his hand to the poison, his fingers were contracted and held back by spasms.

At this time one of the inmates of the place came in, but he concealed his agitation, and as soon as he was left alone, a change came over him, and so detestable did the deed appear, that he threw away the laudanum and dashed the vial to pieces. The rest of the day was spent in heavy insensibility, and at night he slept as usual; but on waking at three in the morning, he took his penknife and lay with his weight upon it, the point toward his heart. It was broken and would not penetrate. At day break he arose, and passing a strong garter around his neck, fastened it to the frame of his bed: this gave way with his weight, but on securing it to the door, he was more successful, and remained suspended till he had lost all consciousness of existence. After a time the garter broke and he fell to the floor, so that his life was saved.; but the conflict had been greater than his reason could endure. He felt for himself a contempt not to be expressed or imagined; whenever he went into the street, it seemed as if every eye flashed upon him with indignation and scorn; he felt as if he had offended God so deeply that his guilt could never be forgiven, and his whole heart was filled with tumultuous pangs of despair. Madness was not far off, or rather madness was already come.

After recovering, Cowper came to realize how God can erase the stain of any sin.

————————————

[audio:Fountain.mp3]

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day;
And there have I, though vile as he, washed all my sins away.
Washed all my sins away, washed all my sins away;
And there have I, though vile as he, washed all my sins away.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its power
Till all the ransomed church of God be saved, to sin no more.
Be saved, to sin no more, be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed church of God be saved, to sin no more.

E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.
And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.

Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy power to save,
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave.
Lies silent in the grave, lies silent in the grave;
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave.

Lord, I believe Thou hast prepared, unworthy though I be,
For me a blood bought free reward, a golden harp for me!
’Tis strung and tuned for endless years, and formed by power divine,
To sound in God the Father’s ears no other name but Thine.

The Gospel

Hi friends,

I just wanted to invite you all to listen to a sermon called “Examine Yourself”. I know, sometimes sermons can be the least exciting thing to listen to, but I really think this one is a life or death matter. Many of us grew up in church, or feel like we believe in God, and that’s enough, but when you die, you don’t want to be in for a rude awakening. A simple “I believe in God; we have a special relationship” is not enough. In the Bible, the Word of God, Jesus says the following:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 ESV

Seeing this, we should be grateful and humbled that a)the Father provided a way to Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ and b)quick to confess and believe that Jesus Christ is indeed LORD.

You see, our lives are jacked up. We’re born in sin. Through Adam came sin. Because he and Eve ate of the fruit in the garden, when God instructed them not to, all men after that are in a fallen state – born in sin. Sinful man cannot come to God on his own terms. This is where Jesus Christ, the Messiah, comes in. Out of His great love for us, God provided a way to become righteous before God – through the blood of His Son.

The Bible tells us in Romans 3 that there are none righteous… none of us seek after God… none of us understand.

This world is getting ridiculously crazy and violent. NONE OF US know when our last moment is. We are not promised another year, nevertheless another SECOND on this Earth.

Place your faith in Christ Jesus before it’s too late.

Christian Love

Leave a comment

The command to love one another had been in force from the beginning of the world; but it might be called a new command as given to Christians. It was new in them, as their situation was new in respect of its motives, rules, and obligations. And those who walk in hatred and enmity to believers remain in a dark state. Christian love teaches us to value our brother’s soul, and to dread every thing hurtful to his purity and peace. Where spiritual darkness dwells, in mind, the judgment, and the conscience will be darkened, and will mistake the way to heavenly life. These things demand serious self-examination; and earnest prayer, that God would show us what we are, and whither we are going. —Matthew Henry Concise

Cry No More

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 ESV

Lately I have been longing for that day… the day when I will cry no more, hurt no more. So much has been going on in my life the past few weeks – health, heartache, concerns, stress. One day, I won’t have to deal with health problems. I won’t have to see doctors; I’ll be in the presence of the Great Physician. I won’t have to deal with turmoil; I’ll be in the presence of the Prince of Peace. How glorious will that day be when all the worldly things pass away. No sickness, no death, no pain, no heartbreak… just me and my fellow saints and our Lord.

Maranatha.

Why am I voting for Obama ?

15 Comments

Why, as a believer in Christ Jesus, should I vote for Obama, one who is for partial birth abortion ? That is essentially murder. I refuse to vote for Obama simply because he is Black. Race doesn’t matter.

The 10 commandments state that you shouldn’t kill. Essentially, man is attempting to trump God when he takes a life into his own hands. Why do so many of my brothers and sisters in the Faith support this man ? No, there is NOT a perfect candidate, but I will not vote for a man who says it is okay to murder a child.

If you need to know more about what partial birth abortion is, peep:

These are done after 4 or 5 months.
- 80% of babies are normal.
- Most babies are viable.

This is like a breech delivery. The entire infant is delivered except the head. A scissors is jammed into the base of the skull. A tube is inserted into the skull, and the brain is sucked out. The now-dead infant is pulled out. The drawings illustrate this.

Pics and info taken from AbortionFacts.com.

A baby that can feel… floating around in his / her mother’s womb… only to have some scissors JAMMED INTO THEIR SKULLS. This is absolutely cruel.

So… why am I voting for Obama again ?

Grace and peace,
Jenn
