And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
Colossians 3:17-25 ESV
What a hard principle to follow at times… It is most definitely something I need to remember when I am having a hard time at work… Ultimately, we work for Him…
What would life look like if we were truly to apply this principle HARD to our lives ?

…And how much anxiety would it remove to think that it is not the approval of people that we are seeking!

Good question.
If husbands were to love their wives sacrifically, as Christ did the church, wives could submit with a great deal more trust that they would not be misused and abused.
If fathers/mothers were to show respect for their children, the children would likely be more inclined to obey.
If slaves/servants were to do all things to please the Lord, we would accomplish so much more and experience much more success.
